Jessica Allen is a freelance illustrator who’s always been inspired by words, wherever they’re found. From the picture books she read as a child, to poetry, to paper ephemera in a vintage shop, the sounds and shapes of words are what get her creative cogs turning. Hand-lettered words have become a signature of her illustrations, along with painterly brush strokes and an eye for tiny details.
Jessica’s background in art history and graphic design strongly influence her visual aesthetic. She has created illustrations for a wide range of projects, including magazines, stationery, book covers, children’s toys, and food packaging.
Jessica lives and works in Rhode Island with her husband, her two daughters, and a wiry little dog named Roo.
